Based in Higashiomi, Shiga Prefecture, SLOW FABRIC has been established to create hand-dyed indigo products.
At SLOW FABRIC, we create our works using natural fermentation indigo dyeing—a traditional method that flourished during Japan’s Edo period (1600s).
This process uses no synthetic chemicals; every ingredient is 100% natural, preserving the purity and depth of true indigo color.
Shiga Prefecture is home to a rich textile heritage — from linen weaving in the Koto region, to silk in Nagahama, and canvas in Takashima.
We actively use locally produced fabrics from Shiga, carrying forward these traditions through our indigo-dyed creations.
In addition to our original pieces, we also provide custom dyeing services for both individuals and businesses.
We accept requests to dye existing garments and fabrics, as well as create one-of-a-kind indigo works to order.
